Dear [Attorney General’s Name],

I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent regarding the ongoing fallout from the collapse of Synapse Financial Technologies Inc. This crisis has left thousands of depositors without access to their funds, with the reconciliation process conducted by multiple partner banks remaining opaque and inconsistent. I am one of the affected end users and my funds were frozen after Synapse Financial Technologies Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May of 2024.

For months, affected depositors have been given limited information about the whereabouts of their money, and only recently has one institution announced that additional funds have been “found” and will soon be disbursed.  This is after months of insisting on the accuracy of their prior reconciliation attempts. Such abrupt shifts in narrative, without clear details regarding the methodology or scope of the reconciliation, have compounded the uncertainty and financial hardship faced by everyday consumers.

It is important to note that this issue is not attributable to a single institution. Rather, it reflects a systemic failure within an ecosystem of banks, fintech partners, service providers, and regulators, all of which have contributed to a lack of transparency and accountability. Depositors are suffering due to the missing deposits and the prolonged delay in receiving accurate information about the whereabouts of their own funds.

I respectfully urge your office to launch a comprehensive investigation into the reconciliation process and the management of depositor funds by all parties involved in this ecosystem. It is essential that those responsible—whether due to shared mismanagement, systemic disorganization, or other factors—be held accountable, and that immediate measures be taken to ensure the full return of all deposits. Restoring transparency and trust in our financial institutions is critical to protecting consumers and preventing future crises.
